The Suspended Moment
Fabio Adani
Italy, 2023

The Suspended Moment reflects upon the human and existential condition—a wall constructed from nothing, woven from air and light, serves as a metaphor for an immense barrier. This barrier, primarily internal within each person, embodies our limits, fears, the sensation of incapability in doing or becoming something, often manifesting as a mental rather than merely a physical predicament. It acts as a formidable obstruction preventing our freedom. From an alternative perspective, this barrier also acts as a protective cocoon, akin to a 'comfort zone' that provides shelter. However, it simultaneously excludes us from numerous opportunities to embrace the world.

Nonetheless, within this wall lies a crack, a passage—an invitation to the possibility of transcending our current state, to effect change. It signifies the existence of a potential and attainable elsewhere, a condition distinct from our present state. The human figure, symbolizing each of us, remains still, suspended in the moment when a decision must be made or, upon crossing the threshold, the realization of a change yet to occur. There is no indication of the direction in which humanity is headed; instead, it conveys the awareness that change is conceivable, contingent upon one's will.

The predominant blue hues, the gentle shades of light, and the concept of light transport us to a non-material realm, alluding to an inner world and an existential condition.
